And now for something completely BRO

It's 1 2 3 in the morning and I'm having trouble sleeping, readers. Why is that, you ask? Oh, you don't ask? Well let me tell you anyway. I've been meaning to write an entry about this for at least a week, maybe longer. I just can't quite figure out the words I need to express exactly what I feel about tonight's topic:

The North-American Bro.

Stand-Up-Sit-Down

Somebody did his first night of Stand-Up comedy in front of drunken strangers last night. Guess who that could be? Overall it seems that as debuts go, it could have gone a lot worse. People seemed to respond well to most of the stuff, and anything that didn't go well I can easily point out where things went off the tracks and why. Stand-up comedy is such an interesting form of entertainment that way. It's entirely your own. Doing a play, if something doesn't seem to be working in terms of your delivery or your thoughts behind what you're saying, there's never really a lot of leg room to try new things. In comedy if something doesn't work you have the option to give it the six million dollar man treatment; make a joke better, faster, stronger. Or you can go ancient Egypt on your joke's ass and throw it out in to the desert to die. That seems to be the appeal of stand-up, at least among the jokers I hang out with. Total control and adaptability. Just some thoughts. I'm definitely going to make an effort to make a regular habit out of this, much like I did with cocaine in the late 90s. So, if you're around Fo-Co on Monday nights, Hodie's half-note is the place to be. So say we all.

In other news, I'm got into the YPO Ramwelcome show. That's going to be on August 20th and 21st. The two shows we're doing are called Shelter which was written by a good friend of mine and Riddance, by Linda McLean. Here are the synopses:

  Shelter by Michelle Jones
Synopsis: A husband and wife discover the bomb shelter built outside their house. As the play develops, the wife's fascination with and dedication to the shelter drives the couple apart as the wife's paranoia increases beyond normal levels

Riddance  by Linda McLean (alt. sp. Maclean)
Synopsis:"Very few people hear just what there is and nothing more. Very few.
If it's true we leave a trail, does it follow then, that we can always be found?
Kenny is a vacuum cleaner salesman with an obsession for security and cleanliness. Always running to escape his past, he has carved a comfortably isolated existence. Imagine his horror when old 'friend' Frank turns up on his doorstep. Clare however, is curiously relieved to see Frank and delivers him a devastating blow when she reveals her own secret.
Riddance probes the relationship between the three friends who are drawn reluctantly and inevitably together.
No one gets away unscathed."

Looking forward to it! It's also got Scottish accents. Zounds!

There seems to be some exciting stuff brewing around here at Aplomborama, True Believers! Keep your eyes open and check back for it. We might see some guest postings and some neat stuff coming at you from all sides. There's no escape from the reckoning. If you yourself are interested in contributing, let me know! We've got room to grow, and the options at this point are limited only by your own tiny, watery brains.

Til next time

The Beginning of the End...

Oh God, I'm doing it, aren't I? What Wikipedia tells me over 150 million people, or half of the entire United States, is doing.

Blogging.

Why break down and join the self-entitled masses with my own electronic spout of nonsense and BS that I hope people will read? Maybe I just need an outlet. Maybe I'm bored. And maybe I'm under the influence of some kind of mind-control device; an unwilling pawn in someone's irrational and probably not very well thought-out grab for world domination. The answer, of course, is all of the above. I think what I hope to accomplish with this thing is weekly, or semi weekly, or whenever I damn well please, give a shot at making you, the reader's day a little bit better. How do I intend to do that, you ask? By trying to make you laugh, of course! Maybe I'll review movies I think you should have seen by now, or by telling you why Super Mario Sunshine sucks. And maybe if you're good, there'll even be some form of a web comic involved, wouldn't that be nice??

But let's see.. I can't exactly start this thing off on an empty, unfulfilled note. So I'm going to have you do something for me, dear reader. What do YOU want out of a humour site? Robots fighting each other over who gets the last battery? Hobos fighting each other over who gets the last battery? Batteries fighting each other over who gets out alive?

I've been sitting on this stupid thing for like three days now and so I think this is as good as an intro as I can come up with right now. I may try to update every.. Thursday? So, watch out for that. Bam.
